A building that’s making a difference. The new Counties Manukau Health Care Acute Mental Health Tiaho mai Unit will be a 76-person inpatient facility divided into identical wings each accommodating a dedicated secure-entry, 14-bed HDU and 24-bed LDU. Each wing is wrapped around seven landscaped therapy courtyards that flow onto the large open-plan socialization spaces. Tiaho Mai means “the light that comes from the moon and the stars – shine here” in Te Reo Maori.

“We had Pearse Construction working under us as a sub-contractor. They performed really well, with ample resource onsite as required and a high quality of workmanship while working under pressure. Additional works and last minute changes were a common theme, but not an issue for this team. Thanks for your efforts.”
